Psychiatric Services
Calliope Health Psychiatry
At Calliope Health, we understand the significant impact psychiatric medication can have on improving mental health and overall well-being. Our psychiatric services are designed to address a range of concerns, from mood disorders and anxiety to compulsions, addiction, bipolar disorder, and trauma. We believe in utilizing medication as a valuable tool in conjunction with other therapeutic modalities to facilitate positive change and provide life-changing improvements for our patients
Understanding Psychiatric Medication
Psychiatric medication refers to prescription drugs that help manage symptoms associated with various mental health conditions. These medications work by targeting specific neurotransmitters or brain chemicals to regulate mood, behavior, and cognition. They can alleviate symptoms, enhance functioning, and improve overall quality of life for individuals experiencing psychiatric challenges.
Medication Management at Calliope Health
Our psychiatric nurse practitioners at Calliope Health practice with a patient-focused philosophy. We understand that each individual’s experience with medication is unique, and we prioritize collaborative decision-making to ensure the best possible outcomes. Medication management involves a thorough assessment of symptoms, medical history, lifestyle factors, and treatment goals to tailor a personalized medication regimen.
Balancing Symptom Reduction and Side Effects
We recognize the importance of striking a balance between symptom reduction and managing potential side effects. Our approach emphasizes ongoing monitoring and adjustment to optimize medication efficacy while minimizing adverse effects. We believe in proactive communication and encourage open dialogue between patients and providers to address any concerns or challenges that may arise during treatment.
Moving Away from the “Set It and Forget It” Model
At Calliope Health, we reject the “set it and forget it” model of psychiatry. We do not believe in hastily prescribing medications without thorough evaluation or providing refills indefinitely without follow-up. Instead, we view medication management as a dynamic process that requires active collaboration and periodic reassessment. We are committed to working together with our patients to fine-tune their medication regimen and support their journey toward mental wellness.
Your Role as a Collaborator
We invite you to be an active participant in your treatment journey at Calliope Health. Your insights, preferences, and feedback are invaluable in guiding our decision-making process. Together, we will explore the potential benefits and risks of psychiatric medication, identify personalized strategies for symptom management, and work towards achieving your treatment goals. Our goal is to empower you to reclaim control over your mental health and lead a fulfilling life.
Payment and Insurance
Calliope Health does not accept any health insurance plans or state medical assistance programs including medicare or medicaid. Health insurance plans often place restrictions on providers and patients that limit the amount of time that psychiatrists can spend with their patients. Unfortunately, this often creates barriers to outstanding patient care. Therefore, we are an out-of-network provider and do not take payment directly from any insurance company. A credit card is required for payment for each visit and if you elect to seek reimbursement from your out-of-network insurance plan you may request a superbill here.
FEES:
1-hour psychiatric assessment: $250*
30-minute medication management consult: $200
* If you are already a psychiatric patient of one of our providers, no additional assessment fee is necessary, other than for the time needed to discuss the new treatment plan, should you elect to enter our ketamine-assisted therapy program.

Medication Refill Requests
Requests for prescription refills can be made through the contact Anna Richards link or by leaving a voicemail message for Anna. Please state your name, date of birth, as well as the name of the medication and dosage when requesting a refill. We kindly asks that all patients monitor how much medication they have and reach out to request refills well in advance of running out of medication. Completing a medication refill may take up to three business days and we make every attempt to fill the request as soon as possible.
Patients that do not regularly attend scheduled appointments may in many cases not receive refills on their medications. Additionally, patients that have missed a recent appointment and are requesting a medication refill may require a phone call from one of our psychiatric nurse practitioners so that we can receive a brief update about you and your wellbeing prior to refilling a medication. In these cases, you will be charged at the rate of a partial visit.
